Goal Update: June 2016
Check out my original goal post here.
-Run at least one race every month: Ahhh Baltimore 10 Miler, PR baby!
-Save money, pay off debts, own less: I took a batch of stuff to consignment and then drove the stuff they didn’t want directly to Goodwill. The consignment shop I take my stuff to is taking fall clothing starting July 1. I have a few things to take once I can find a time that I’m available and they’re open. With the exception of one pair of shorts and two white t-shirts (those suckers don’t last!), I can’t remember the last time I bought clothes. I usually look forward to shopping for spring/summer skirts and dresses but I’ve been shopping in my closet this year. I still have plenty to choose from. I’ve also been keeping my expenses pretty low. I’ve used very little air conditioning (usually only when I’m going somewhere after I run and I need to shower and cool off quickly), so the electric bill has been low.
-Start my days earlier and be more mindful of how I spend my time: I know science says 8 hours of sleep, but 6 is my sweet spot. I had some morning workouts, some super early mornings at work, and a few mornings to sit in my recliner and catch up on the news. I’m looking to keep that rolling into July.
-Get back to more regular food logging: Meh, logging is intermittent. I have been moving more with some mid-day walks and I’ve been fairly happy with the scale and my running, so if that continues, I’m okay with intermittent logging.
-Buy more local produce: More roadside berries at the beginning of the month. I’m keeping cash stashed in my wallet so I’m able to jump on anything that catches my eye.
-Write/Post More: I’ve been writing more and finding a few tricks here and there that work for me. One thing I’ve found is that if I take my computer somewhere, with say and hour to an hour and a half until closing, with no power chord or anything, I can focus and make decent progress in that time. There isn’t as much to distract me as at home and if I don’t have the ability to plug in, I have the make the most of my computer’s battery life and the time before wherever I am closes. For instance, last week, I had a post in my drafts and I kept not getting around to a final edit and ‘post’. I knew it wouldn’t take terribly long so I went to Panera around 8:30. They close at 10, way more than enough time to edit and hit the post button and I was out of there by 9:30, which even included some random internet surfing after I posted.
